February marks a major milestone for Capital Area Corporate Recycling Council (CACRC): 30 years of service, innovation, and community impact. Since our founding, CACRC has remained committed to a simple but powerful idea — that responsible electronics recycling can strengthen communities, protect the environment, and expand access to opportunity.
Three Decades of Purpose-Driven Work
For 30 years, CACRC has worked at the intersection of environmental stewardship and community empowerment. What began as an effort to responsibly manage electronic waste has grown into a mission-driven organization that uses technology as a tool for equity, workforce readiness, and economic mobility.
Through certified electronics recycling and data destruction practices, CACRC has helped businesses and organizations safely retire equipment while ensuring materials are handled in compliance with industry standards. At the same time, usable devices have been refurbished and reinvested back into the community — transforming surplus technology into meaningful impact.
Expanding Access, Strengthening Communities
Over the years, CACRC has intentionally expanded its community-facing work to address the digital divide across Baton Rouge and surrounding parishes. Through programs like Computers for Louisiana Families, Connecting Louisiana Families, and community-based technology distributions, thousands of individuals and families have gained access to computers and reliable internet service.
From neighborhood resource fairs and libraries to schools and workforce events, CACRC has met people where they are — ensuring that access to technology supports education, job readiness, and long-term stability.
Partnerships That Drive Impact
CACRC’s impact has always been rooted in partnership. Collaborations with schools, libraries, nonprofits, employers, and local governments have allowed us to scale our work while staying responsive to community needs.
In recent years, partnerships with organizations such as the East Baton Rouge Parish Library, Westdale Middle School, and workforce development initiatives across the region have strengthened CACRC’s role as a trusted community resource. These relationships reflect a shared belief that access to technology is no longer optional — it is essential.
A Team Committed to Excellence
Behind every milestone is a dedicated team. Today, CACRC is supported by 23 employees whose expertise spans operations, logistics, sales and technology, and resource development. Guided by a leadership team that prioritizes accountability, compliance, and community impact, CACRC continues to uphold rigorous standards while evolving to meet new challenges.
Looking Ahead
As we celebrate our 30th anniversary, we do so with gratitude — for our partners, supporters, employees, and the communities we serve. While we are proud of what we have accomplished, we are even more energized by what lies ahead.
The digital landscape will continue to change, and CACRC will continue to adapt, innovate, and lead. Our commitment remains the same as it was 30 years ago: to responsibly recycle electronics while expanding access to technology and opportunity.
Celebrating 30 Years: Empowering Communities Through Technology.
Thank you for being part of the CACRC story — past, present, and future.
